Erykah Badu - Window Seat (live)

A side note: I'm glad we got away from lip synced performances on these late night shows. I heard and interview yesterday that even Bill Withers was forced to lip sync his TV appearances. That's just criminal.

Why Erykah is Better than Rihanna

So listen up, artists! If you want to push the envelope - be more like Erykah Badu and less like Rihanna. Take a look at the two videos here. One is creative and one seems creative. One pushes the envelope and one looks like something that pushes the envelope. One makes a visually unique statement, one makes an attempt to look good. If you want to call yourself an artist, be an artist. Art isn't immediately disposable. Dr. J was an artist on the basketball court. Marvin Gaye was an artist on the microphone. -- when you're attempting to be an artist in a visual sense, actually put a little bit of effort into it, for your and my sake. Erykah Badu & Lil Wayne // Jump Up in The Air and Stay There Rihanna // Rude Boy ... This doesn't even need to be complicated!! A single shot on a handheld is a powerful visual when done correctly! From one of the most visually progressive bands of the 90's... Nine Inch Nails // March of the Pigs ... It's hard to be an artist and even harder to be a rock star. That's why when I see people trying to fake it and getting away with it I get so mad.

Teyana Taylor's Pony Express

Media_httpwwwdjfeenix_vlcet
(For the record: Yes. I can absolutely do a better job than this.  I am 100% sure.  You want to hire me?  I will work for whatever HALF of what this person made to make the video is... I have never made a video before but I'm sure that I could fart out a concept* better than this in about 30 minutes.)

Te'yana Taylor // Google Me

It's not a good sign when I watch your video and the first thing I think of is this: *Plus storyboard, plus make a delicious sandwich, plus perform a proper pour of Guinness.

Disappointed in R 'n' Bip-Hop, Again

Media_httpwwwdjfeenix_ldpeq
Remember the last time I was disappointed? Well, this time, Jamie Foxx's new video for 'Blame It' makes me mad in very specific ways. 1. Foxx gets all these quality actors and the storyline consists of "drinking, dancing, sitting, being aloof." Fail. 2. My cones are screwed up in a way that I don't think they'll recover from. 3. If you're going to go with the red light effect, then you HAVE to have the people in the video drinking Red Death:
    Ingredients:
  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Southern Comfort
  • 1 oz Amaretto
  • 1/2 oz Sloe gin
  • 1/2 oz Triple sec
  • Fill with Orange juice
  • 1 dash Lime juice

Mixing instructions:

Add all ingredients, Stir and serve over ice.

Red Death IS the best mixed drink ever produced and a properly made one should not taste like alcamahol one bit. It's delicious. 4. What happened to Foxx trying to be the next Luther?  That stop when album sales didn't happen?  Everyone knows it's the guest appearances and featurings that make the money.  Just jump on the next Jeezy track and do the ooh-wop-wop thing for 8 bars and wait for the money to roll in.  This seems almost too easy. 5. Throwing money in rap videos is a cliche. Slow motion in rap videos is a cliche. Wearing sunglasses indoors is not a cliche, but it is silly. Having T-Pain in your video is a cliche. ... I hate the way this makes me feel/rant.

You can take back all the things you give / But ya can't take back the days you live

Too $hort "Life is... Too $hort" I remember how it all began I used to sing dirty raps to my East Side fans Back then I knew ya couldn't stop this rap No M.C. could rock like that Then the new style came, the bass got deeper Ya gave up the mike and bought you a beeper Do ya wanna rap or sell coke? Brothers like you ain't never been broke People wanna say it's just my time Brothers like me had to work for mine Eight years on the mike and I'm not jokin' Sir Too Short comin' straight from Oakland California, home of the rock Eight woofers in the trunk, beatin' down the block Short dog, I'm that rappin' man I said it before and I 'll say it again Life is too short Too short Life is too short Life is to some people unbearable Committin' suicide and that's terrible Was it much too much or nothing' big? If ya live my life, you'd be fightin' to live Life is to me my main asset I be doin' all right and keep it just like that Chill out at the house and pump that bass I'm tryin' to get rich as I rock the place Everybody's got that same old dream To have big money and fancy things Drive a brand new Benz, keep your banck right here Never hear me stutter once because I talk real clear It's on you, homeboy, watcha gonna do? You can take my advice and start workin', fool Or you can close your ears and run your mouth And one day, homeboy, ya soon find out Life is too short Too short Life is too short Life is too short, would you agree? While I'm livin' my life, don't mess with me It's been a long time, baby, since I first got down But I still keep makin' these funky sounds Cause I don't stop rappin', that's my theme I make a lot of money, do you know what I mean? Like this, complicated ya must stay up Ya asked a simple question boy, don't say "What?" Ya only live once and ya callin' it hell Policeman tryin' to take ya to jail You could give a man time but you don't know I a matter of time, I'll be runnin' the show Now another young buck wants to be on top Makin' big money, slangin' hop The task force tryin' ta peel your cap Turn around, homeboy, ya better watch your back Life is too short Too short Life is too short You can take back all the things you give But ya can't take back the days you live Life is to some people heaven on earth Livin' every single day for what it's worth I live my life just how I please Satisfy one person I know, that's me Work hard for the things I achieve in life And never rap fake when I'm on the mike Cause if a dream is all you got, homeboy Ya gotta turn that dream into the real McCoy Not time to waste, just get on that case Ya can't be down 'cause ya need to taste A good life livin' like a king on a throne Gettin' everything ya want and tryin' to have all your own So life Don't be stupid though Cause when ya waste it, you'll know Life Is Life Is All right, that's it

Love Just a Little Bit More

Q-Tip - Conan O'Brien - 1/19/2009
by 3030fm Album version has Raphael Saadiq. No RS on Conan so rather than doing a pre-recorded hook, the Consummate Professional does it hisself. I like it.
